Why was this question deleted and what exactly is the correct question and answer format?
-
This is my question: "Is there an important difference b/w self worth based on external things & self worth based on internal things?" CLEARLY written in Q/A format?? (was it because I used "b/w" instead of "between"--I did so because I was out of character limits. Also, it was posted in the mental health section because it pertains to self esteem. At first they said, "Hello Love aka tree kisser You have posted content to Yahoo! Answers in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. As a result, your content has been deleted and 10 points have been deducted from your points total. Community Guidelines help to keep Yahoo! Answers a safe and useful community, so we appreciate your consideration of its rules. Deleted Question: Is there an important difference b/w self worth based on external things & self worth based on internal things? Violation Reason: Misuse of the question and answer format In Yahoo! Answers you must phrase questions in question format" - OKAY.....so....I have appealed and yahoo said, "Hello Kasey, Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Answers Customer Care. Your content was deleted for misuse of the question and answer format." This and a question I wrote about a year ago are probably my all time FAVORITE questions and both times they got deleted (i have had numerous other harmless questions deleted, but these questions were dear to my heart because the *answers* meant so much to me. This makes me not even want to use Yahoo Answers for awhile...I don't understand question violations. The other favorite question I had deleted last year was something like, "why don't we all start planting fruit trees everywhere?" *Is there anything else I can do to get my question back, if nothing else, to at least access the answers?* Is there a better way to contact yahoo staff, in a way that they will actually READ my appeal?

Answer:
I see nothing wrong except possibly the abbreviation. You can always split a question that does not fit. Put "Is there an important difference between self worth based on external things ..." as the question and "... and self worth based on internal things?" in the more detail. Be sure to place it in the correct category. You may also want to question the violation in the suggestion forum. http://suggestions.yahoo.com/?prop=answers ₪ ʎəɿʞɹɐq ₪

I'm afraid there's probably nothing you can do to recover the questions or the answers. I've had questions deleted before with reasons that make absolutely NO sense. Once, I appealed and they actually gave me a different reason in the second email (which was also nonsense). I don't know of any other way to contact the staff, and I'm pretty sure it would be a waste of time anyway. Maybe try reposting the question in a few different catagories and rephrasing it slightly every time. Some might survive.

Your question was soliciting personal opinions and that is a violation for chat. You appealed but what reason did you give for proving the Question was not a violation. Rule is a question must seek knowledge or advice beneficial to all.

Seems like they're just randomly picking out questions with no reasons behind. Maybe the staff has a certain working layout with a fixed number of questions to be blocked? I also had one of my questions deleted, that was in no way offensive or badly formatted. It was deleted just for the sake of deleting I guess)) But what upsets me the most is that I can't post questions with foreign language texts, even in the Languages category. So stupid. How am I supposed to ask for help in, say, in French, if I can use only English?

There may be several problems someone saw. 1. Did you have material in the added detail? If you went on to explain your opinion in the added details, that is called a rant, a violation. Only you and Yahoo know if that is true. 2. If you were getting answers, did you respond to those in the added details? If so, that is chatting. Again, only you and Yahoo know. 3. The proper format is "What is the difference...?". Note, your version can simply be answered, "no". Always start with who, what, when, where, why and you require facts as answers, not just opinions.
