Is Aerospace Engineer a good career path?

Aerospace engineer career demand in 2020?

  • I'm in the Navy as an Aviation Machinist, and I plan to go to college and get a degree. Becoming an aerospace engineer are one of my choices, and the pay is well too. What will the demand be like in 5-10 years for this career?

  • Answer:

What will something be like in 5-10 years? You're fishing for guesses. Frankly, your guess is probably just as good as anyone Else's. But since you asked, I'll give you mine. In the US I think the demand will remain constant or possibly go down slightly. New designs will decrease in the general aviation and commercial side as the dollar becomes weaker (another guess of mine) and in turn demand drops. Production of current models I think will stay about the same, may go up or down but nothing drastic. Military will expand into more UAV Development. I think we'll start to see a shift of what a UAV is and the role it plays in 5-10 years. I think it will go from small surveillance and light attack aircraft to large or very large transport aircraft. I don't expect to see this trend to cary over into the civilian market any time soon, although cargo may see it. Outside the us, particularly in Asia, specifically India and China, I think we will see a boom of new innovation in both military and civilian aircraft. You're in the navy, forget about any kind of Chinese government job. But I could see them relaxing their control and allowing more corporations develop their own aircraft, I see this being s, and that's a market you can get into. once that takes off I think general aviation will be right behind. That's my guess. But as always, if you have the qualifications and meet the right people you can get a job doing anything you want.

Expect demand to go up (12-19%), we're approaching that age where many planes are starting to get outdated as technology is advancing at an incredibly fast level. Aerospace engineering is an excellent field, and is almost always hiring. Good luck!
