How to increase STAMINA/ENDURANCE?

  • I want to play soccer in a league this summer going to start training now, what should i do to increase my stamina i just don't want to get tired easily. ANY TIPS TO INCREASE STAMINA??? 10 points to the most useful answer :P

    Long slow aerobic exercise, light weight circuit training and hard work! Vary your program so you dont get bored , aim for 3-5 sessions at least an hour long per week , don't overdo it or you will get tired , bored or injured even before the soccer season starts. try rowing machines , treadmills , jogging , circuit weights , bootcamp classes , aerobics classes , biking or spin classes , swimming , racquet sports ... you name it , Variation is the spice of life and if you get stuck in then you should be ready for the season when it starts . good luck

Basically do long distance running, but stay away from a tread mill. Most people don't have the chance to do this often but if you do though, take advantage of running in elevated areas, such as mountains, but as I had said not many people have the regular opportunity for this. It takes running three times a week to keep the progress you have gained but more than 3 times a week to seriously gain some progress in your cardiovascular health, which will give you a higher stamina and endurance.
