if by 'open the computer', you mean turning it on, then you problem is that your CMOS battery is dead. the CMOS battery is what keeps the time and date settings in your computer. oh yeah..if this is the case be very careful replacing the battery, i would recommened wearing an 'anti static wrist strap' to prevent any thing on your motherboard from being fried (just a percaution)

its probably because you are not connected to the internet. If you are then i don't know whats wrong

Probably your time zone must have been not set correctly. If you are livin' in India then follw these, i)Double click the time status on the end of the taskbar. ii) Under the option "time zone", choose = "(GMT+5:30) Chennai, kolkata, mumbai, new delhi" If this doesn't solve your problem, then connect to internet to synchronize with time.windows.com.

Your computer is old. The CMOS battery that is on your computer's motherboard is also old and can no longer hold a charge. This tiny battery needs replacement.

Settings of the local time might be wrong. Did you add or minus the local time from the Greenwich time?

Ram Jeya
