How to count weight gain in pregnancy if you lost weight in the beginning weeks?
-
With my first daughter I started my pregnancy at 125 lbs and dropped to 115ish in the first few months, nothing worked to gain no matter how much I ate. I wasn't throwing up at all (only once) either. I stayed at 115 until 20 weeks and then quickly put on the 10 lbs I lost plus another 36 lbs in the last 20 weeks. I am pregnant again and started out at 132 and dropped to 127 in the first weeks and am now 20 weeks, I am now 130 so not back up to my prepreg weight yet. I am not losing anymore but slowly gaining so I will likely do the same thing and gain back what I lost and then gain another 35 or so. I am wondering how you count weight gain, do I count what I regained in my weight gain? so say I gained 36 with my first child or would I have gained 46? I am a bit confused and have heard different explanations!

Answer:
I don't know how your meant to work it. I for some reason lose weight at the beginning of my pregnancies as well and then gain weight. When I talk about my weight gain in pregnancy, I only count the actual weight I've gained, and then explain the weight I lost initially. Like with my first two I initially lost weight (can't remember how much) and then went on to gain 15kgs. With my second I lost maybe 2 or 3 kgs and then only gained 2 kgs during the rest of the pregnancy. But I believe the small weight gain was due to being on a strict diet and exercise routine due to having Gestational Diabetes. And currently with this pregnancy I lost a good 5-8 kgs and at 33 weeks have only gained 2kgs. Again I think this is due to diet and exercise due to Gestational Diabetes. And I doubt I will gain anymore weight if it goes the same as last time. Just explain it however you want too.
