Anybody else sick of rude comments on the number of children you have?

• I'm expecting #5, an unexpected surprise. All of my others were well planned. I am so sick of people asking me if I know what tv or birth control is. I may not have a designer purse, put I feel rich in love. I take very good care of my children. I only feed them healthy foods. They are all of a healthy weight, and clean cut. They are educated, and I make sure they are polite to adults. I check their homework, and make sure school work is always completed. I am not one of those absent moms. Why all the rude comments?? Do you have any good comebacks??

  It's nobody's buisness but a lot of people make it their buisness. I'd just smile and ignore it. I'd say that saying nothing is best because this person already has shared their point of view and nothing you say can make them change their mind. I am guilty of doing this once. I was a really young mom around just 20 or so. A woman in our mom's group was having her I think 5th child too. I was wanting more kids at the time too and honestly I felt a little jealous. I always wanted a large family. Anyway, I made a comment to a friend of mine saying something like "Yeah, I know this mom about her 5th child and her youngest isn't even one yet." Behind me I heard "I'm having my 5th too and my youngest is only 9mts." I wanted to die! I felt so bad she over heard me. The thing is though I was actually talking about another woman in our group. Not her. We are homeschooling family so a lot of our friends have 3 or more kids. While trying for my 2nd child I had 2 miscarriages which were heart breaking. The thing most people at the church or group would make comments to me like "Well, when are you having another one?" or "You just have one kid? You need to get busy." Those comments really hurt. To this day I remember one woman from chruch ran into me at the grocery store. She walked past me saying "Just the one? Come on now." Meaning I should have more kids. I was so hurt that I actually stopped and told her "I've lost 2 babies trying to have another child. We are working on it." Poor woman looked sick to her stomach. So there are two types of comments about kids that can hurt a mom. We just have our 3 due to my health problems I can't have anymore. Yet my heart longs for a house full of kids. Still though at times at church I'll hear one mom say "Why only 3?" At our last gathering when the subject went to trying having more babies I spoke up. I told them "I've love to have ore than 3 kids but after having miscarriages I just can't have anymore." That shut them up. People who make those comments don't how painful they are. So just remind yourself how ignorant people can be.
