How To Know The Name By Tin?

Flexible/bendy metal/tin?

  • I don't know the name of this material, i'm trying to find some to use for a project I am making. i know I have seen this (it's like some sort of tin-type stuff that bends pretty well but it isn't paper-like, it feels like a tin can but it bends) I have seen it mostly used outside for gardening purposes (I think?) anyways, if anyone has any idea that would be awesome (best answer will be given to the one who knows what i am talking about)

  • Answer:

There are a number of thin metal materials fairly easily available. The gardening reference suggests the product called flashing which is long narrow strips sold for lining the V channels in roofs and for filling the slot where shingles come up against chimneys or windows to shed rain. Sold in hardware stores, home centers and lumber yards in various widths, it is light sheet metal in aluminum or steel. http://doitbest.com/search-flashing.dib A heavier steel or plastic is used for garden edging but that is hard to bend. Modest quantities of sheet aluminum, steel, copper and brass are available from several companies including Steelworks and are sold in displays in hardware stores, etc. These are in several sizes like 6x24" 12x24" and 24x24" like this http://doitbest.com/4294966390-Metal+sheets.dib A company called K&S Engineering sells 4x12" thin and fairly thick sheets of copper, brass, aluminum and stainless steel and very thin copper and aluminum craft metal in hardware and hobby store.
