What brand of color pencils are best for coloring in anime?

  • I draw a comic for my friends, but they want it in color. all the color pencils I've tried absolutely SUCK. Which colored pencils are the best of anime comics?

    For something more artistic then schoolroom scribbles, you will want Prismacolor. You can find them at an art store. I have to warn you, they ARE expensive, but the quality and color variety is definately superior to that of Crayola or similar brands. Prismacolor comes in hard lead and soft lead as well as a couple of other options. For blending, the soft leads are better. For outlining you would probably want the hard lead pencils.

Well myself I would use Prismacolor. It is rather expensive... But I've found that not only are thier color pencils great for blending colors but they sell full lines of markers amoung other art supplies that are very hard to match. Most Hobby and art shops carry them.

Why not markers? I love the saturation. For pencils, did you try Prismacolor? They are pretty good. Now, I'm not kidding, but I bought some Crayola pencils for my kids and they are stunning on smooth copier paper - I use them more than the expensive ones!

*blink* Been awhile since I've seen anyone use coloured pencils. Others will tell you that PrismaColor pencils are the best, but I prefer to use cheap, sucky pencils. :P
