Dwarf hamster is limping/keeping weight off of back paw. Help!?
-
I was cleaning out my hamsters cage and had to move him to a temporary box, while doing this he managed to freak out and fall out of my hands onto the desk. The fall was only a couple of inches, then from my hands almost to the floor, I caught him before he hit the floor. Then a third time right before I put him into the box he managed to fall back onto the desk, I'm guessing a foot high if that, but he did get squeeze out of a tight spot, as he was almost in the box and i was closing the top he squeezed out and fell. He seems fine, he's drinking and eating and running around. Only thing I noticed was that he's keeping his back paw up when he runs. It's not slowing him down at all, but he is limping a tad but is mainly just keeping weight off. I'm thinking about taking him to a vet but I've been reading and hearing that there's nothing a vet can do for him because of his size. I don't want to waste money to hear the vet say they can't do anything when I have to take my cat in to get spayed. At this point I'm about to take him to the emergency vet though. I've only had him for about a month, never handled him except for when moving him while cleaning his cage, which is the reason why he freaked out. I was told not to really handle dwarf hamsters as they're not the holding type. I stroke him and pet him but not so much to the point where he's familiar with being held. Will it heal on his own, is he in shock? I'm not sure if it was caused by the fall or if him and my other hamster had gotten into a fight and somehow that caused it. Also my other hamster died this morning, so there's no way I'm going to lose this little guy. I'm calling a vet as we speak, I just wanted to get opinions and tips from people who have had experience with dwarf hamsters. Please don't leave comments that aren't going to help me because I really don't have time for that. Thank you.

Answer:
As any one would be in shock after hurting a part of there body , although a vet cant do much taking him there would reassureyou and find out if he has permanently hurt his leg
