My turtle won't open its eyes...help?

My Female red ear slider turtle wont open her eyes?

  • i have a red ear slider turtle and she will not open her eyes and she looks like she trys really hard to open them.She move and walks but doesnt open her eyes.Only way to get her to open them is to splash some warm water on her face.What does she have and how can i cure her.PLEASE HELP.

Dont listen to randy im really sorry about your poor little turtle , you can always call a vet and ask for help and tell them whats going on they could probably help you out you might even just try looking up online the symptoms your turtle has you might be able to find something , I hope everything is alright ")

Why are you splashing water in it's face? Are they closed when on a basking area? If so this is fine, the light is very bright. If closed when under water then yes there could be a problem. First off, look at the area she is living in, water at least as deep as she is wide, with a basking area, UVB and basking/ heat lamp both shining on the basking area. Decent filter, NOT submersible these don't work on the amount of waste a terrapin/ turtle produces, most owners use canister filters. A tank that is big enough, 10 gallons per inch of shell, no lid, too much condensation can cause respiratory problems. Also make sure temp is right. I have included a website that may help. If all this is right then look what you are feeding. You don't say the age so I can't really give too much info, juveniles are more carnivorous, adults are more herbivores.
