Why is my cat urinating and defecating outside the litter-box?

• I have a ~2 years old male cat and, despite the fact that he used to, he doesn't use his litter-box anymore. I heard that he should be sterilized, but I feel quite bad for him. If that's the only option, I would like to find a cat for him to breed with at least a couple of times. (P.S.: I will take him to the vet, but it may take a while; my parents are too "busy" with their jobs)

  There may be a couple of things going on here. 1. Is the litter box absolutely clean, and do you keep it clean? Cats have a much more acute sense of smell than we do. If we can smell the litter box, it is much much worse for the cats. You wouldn't want to go to a dirty toilet, well, neither does your cat. Try emptying the litter box and scrubbing it out well with hot water and soap. Dry it thoroughly, and then add clean litter. We clean our cat's litter box morning and night. 2. If your cat's behavior changes, there is often an underlying medical reason for it. This may be an early signal of urinary tract difficulties, because your male cat feels the need to urinate, and it is difficult or painful, and often, this is done outside the litter box. The cat should be taken to the vet if this is the case. 3. Neutered cats are happy cats. They are healthier, they live longer, and they are no longer ruled by their biological imperative to breed. Unless this is a super rare pure bred cat, there is no reason to bring more kittens into the world.
