Why Won't my remote work?

Why wont my dish network remote work with my surround sound/DVD player?

  • I have dish network, a Panasonic DVD surround sound system and a Vizio TV. I have the surround sound working with the TV now but I have to control the sound using a different remote than the one I control the dish with. Im trying to get my dish network remote to work with my DVD/Surround sound. I got on dish network's website and followed the directions using the codes they gave me and it still doesn't work. Im punching in the codes they gave me for a Panasonic DVD player. Should I be using another code from a different category? Do I have to continue using two different remote controls for my DVD/surround sound and my dish? Any suggestions? This is their website if that would at all help. Thank you! http://www.dishnetwork.com/downloads/user-guides/remotes/5_6_8_RC_UserGuide.pdf

  • Answer:

Hello! Daniel Busa here with Dish Network's customer service department. Our remotes do not have full functionality over all equipment, so it may not be possible. One thing I would suggest is a power scan for the code, If this doesn't work it probably is a compatibility issue and I would recommend a logitech universal remote. To do a power scan follow these steps: 1. Hold down the " AUX " button until all four mode buttons light up. 2.press 2 then 222 then # 3.hold the aux until all four mode buttons light up again 4.hit power 5. channel up once per second until the dvd player powers down then hit #
