Whats the best way to play digital video files on my tv?

  • i have alot of digital video files on my pc which i transfered them to a 1TB external hard drive. I than hooked the external hard drive to my lg BD390 bluray player via the usb input. the videos play, "divx, avi, mpeg, mkv, mp4, etc..." but for some reason it wont play some of the files in the same formats that it normally plays. but, my main complaint is, when watching the videos from the hard drive it flickers alot, like its skipping frames, like instead of playing 30 fps it maybe does 10 fps and its really noticeable. i have to pause the movie for a second and than it goes away. but on some moves its always like that. im thinking maybe the bluray player doesnt have the guts to play some of those files. so my question is.... what should i get so i could watch these files flawlessly? hooking up the computer to the tv fixes the issue but i dont want it hooked up... i want something like a proffesional dvd/bluray player that will play all kinds of files effortlessly... thanks in advance...

I know my answer is maybe not what you want but it works perfectly. For the money of a good Blu-ray player you can buy a mac mini. I have a mac mini next to my screen and it works perfect. I use VLC player. its free video playing software en it shows a lot of files perfect. even hd-flies like .mkv maybe a solution for you?
