Why Do Cinema Screens Curve?

Why am i getting sick at the cinema?

  • The last two times that i have been the cinema in the past 3 weeks i have been sick. The first time i felt an overwhelming sick feeling and rushed to the toilet to throw up. But i never did, i just felt really sick the whole time, but felt much better outside of the cinema screen. The second time i felt awfully sick and had a dodgy stomach. I went the toilet only once and felt slightly better but was never sick. I usually sit at the back of the cinema so when i returned from the loo i sat at the bottom of the stairs on the left on a fold up chair and felt much better. My stomach kept churning for the rest of the film but i held on until the end. Why am i getting this sick feeling? as i have never had this before and i have been the cinema quite a lot in the last year. I want to go to the cinema for my birthday in a few weeks but am afraid to go again incase i feel sick. Why is this happening and how can it be avoided? I also wear glasses to see long distances as i am short sighted, and i was wearing my glasses whilst watching the film so it can't be that. I fear i may have some sort of reaction or fear or cinema screens now.

  • Answer:

This may sound ridiculous, but it could be the sound. I'm sensitive to certain frequencies of sounds, and they make me sick. Some are low, others are high, and some are average, so I can't really prevent myself from hearing them accidentally quite often. I don't know how to help fix it, if that's your problem. Sorry.

ur expecting to get sick in the cinema now so its a self fulfilling prophecy, whether there is a physical reason or not. the cinema is stuffy warm and full of people with no chance to move around.

You are probably sick because of the high prices they charge to see the show, get a bucket of popcorn and a soda. Spending near $25 for one person to see a picture would make anyone sick!

Another possibility is motion sickness.
