Can bad mixer make speakers sound blown?
-
I ran my speakers through a shitty mackie mixer and they sounded horrible. It was all distorted and it sounded like the speakers have been blown. My speakers are a week old and I'm expecting a new amp by the end of the week. Do any audiophiles know if it's possible that the mixer made the speaker sound that way or if the speaker is actually blown? They are Behringer EurOlive vp2520

Answer:
It is possible if the mixer was putting out a distorted signal. That may or may not be the mixer's fault, it may have not been set up right. Keep in mind that those are passive speakers, you cannot connect them to a normal unpowered mixer but you can connect them to a powered mixer. Mackie makes both types.
