Netflix Streaming through PS3?

  • We are Netflix customers and have a Playstation 3. We would like to stream movies from Netflix to our television and have received the DVD from Netflix that will allow us to do so. I'm basically just waiting on the 50 ft ethernet cable. My question is: Are we only going to have access to movies that are "Instant Play" on the Netflix website or will we be able to watch any Netflix movie available? My husband's coworker has some sort of "box" that supposedly allows him to watch ANY Netflix movie on his television instantly. Is there something additional we need to purchase, or will we have these same capabilities with our PS3? Thanks!

    Yes they are instance play, but you can only watch what netflix puts up for the ps3. They don't put all there movies on there. But you still have alot to choose from.:)

you can only watch the "instant play" movies on the ps3 there are A LOT of movies to choose from, but you sadly cannot watch everything on netflix. yet.

i'm not sure about the Box, but the ps3 can only stream movies that are "Instant play". Remember you have to activate the ps3. It's simple. Just follow the instructions. YOu should also consider getting a wireless router so you won't need the cable.

Netflix also sells a box that allows you to stream movies via your wireless router directly to your TV without running wires all over the house. That is probably what the friend has. You can still only view movies that Netflix offers in the streaming mode. You can't watch everything in the Netflix library. Samsung makes a blu-ray DVD player that offers you the same Netflix capability & connects with your computer through your wireless router.

You can watch the "Instant play" movies on Playstation 3. There are lots of movies available for instant play, but not all of the Netflix movies. Roku Netflix Player can be purchased to watch Netflix movies. AFAIK It has the same capabilities as PS3, i.e. allows to watch the "Instant Play" movies.
