Why doesn't car speaker work?

My left speaker doesnt work, any ideas why?

  • i have a pretty new speaker system(2 speakers and subwoofer) and the left one doesnt work the subwoofer works fine and the right one does so too but the left one doesnt work at all i have noticed something when doing a sound check on youtube: the right speaker thinks its both center and right can that be the problem? how can i fix it on windows 7 with realtek HD audio manager?

  • Answer:

I just had this problem myself with a Logitech 2 speaker & sub combo. How I fixed mine is I also have a microphone headset plugged into my pci port soundcard for gaming. I'd plugged the microphone into the wrong female jack on the soundcard, when I placed it into the correct jack the speakers worked, I suggest either updating your soundcards driver or just unplugging your audio jack and plugging it back in again for a hard reset of your speaker. If this also doesn't work you can find the tray icon for your realtek HD Audio Manager and change the balance settings so left and right are getting equal amounts of sound. Hope this helps.

First, be sure that all your speaker are connected properly. Then make sure in Realtek HD Manager that you have 2.1 selected as your speaker configuration. To test your speaker, reverse the two speakers to be sure that it's not a problem with the speaker itself. If after switching, the dead speakers is still the left side, then you know that it is not the speaker but something wrong with a connection, or in the software. If, however, the dead speaker swaps side after changed the speakers around, you will know that it's the speaker itself that has malfunctioned. As far as your speakers trying to mimic the center channel, this is quite common with a 2.1 system. Since there is no center channel, often your center channel signal is split between the left and right speakers.

if it worked before and if it's really new, try warranty repair.
