New Comcast DVR Help?

Help me compare my present Comcast DVR to owning a TIVO.?

  • I presently have a Comcast DVR, but have been looking at a TIVO-type set up. My main concerns are cost and flexibility. Does a TIVO record the same way, and which is the better value over time?

    hmmmmm.... this is hard because I switched from Tivo to CableDVR to DirectTV back to Tivo) If you can hold out 6 months, TiVo has begun licensing their software to the cable companies but I personally still love my TiVo. The remote feels right in the hand and the interface is intutive. I also like the TiVo suggestions, since I do not have time to sit and look for shows. If you are into mod'ing ur box - the tivo box can allow you to upgrade the box to handle 3-4x more than the cable boxes.

I used to have TIVO but I actually switched to Comcast DVR and I like it soooo much better and its more affordable!

The dvr is definitely cheaper. Tivo has more features but you really have to be a tv fanatic with no life to take advantage of them.
