Any stand-alone DVRs out there with no strings attached?
-
I like the idea of something like a VCR but you record to a built-in hard-disk. So far I've seen DVRs from Tivo and others that once you pay for the unit you keep paying to have it and keep it working. Does any manufacturer make DVRs that have no strings attached? If so, who are they and would you point me in the right directions? Also, any cards that can make a Windows PC function like a DVR? I'm open to either or both options. Thanks!!

Answer:
about 5 years ago i bought a panasonic DVR no hard drive but i think they made one with about a 16gb HD at that time. go to Ebay put in DVR and get an idea of who makes them and how much they are. then go to the company's website. good luck
