HELP with my comcast dvr having no sound and distorted images!?
-
I recorded my favorite shows season finale and I got home happily watching the first 15 minutes when all of a sudden the screen kept getting blotchy and the images were distorted. That part thought I could deal with, the hardest part was no sound. If I rewind and fast forward a couple of times I can get through a scene so my recording is fine. How can I fix this so i can get through the show?

Answer:
If you only had that one issue, it's possible there was an inturruption in the service due to maintenance or an impairment. This is the problem you'd see in digital cable if signal was lost or dropped below the minimum about of signal needed for the digital cable to work. If it's on ongoing issue, it could be the box itself or a low signal level issue getting to the box. The FiOS answer is laughable, BTW. Shared services have nothing to do with it. I have many friends in the industry and FiOS has it's own problems, but that's a whole other story.

Switch to Verizon FIOS Having FIOS means that you will have your own direct line from your home to the CO (central office), and you will not be sharing your signal with anybody. If you have cable for your Internet and experience slowdowns at specific times, that is because you are sharing your signal with your neighbors, neighborhood, and local area. I also like that with FIOS if you ever loose power you will still have dial tone because of the bbu, that is if you have a non cordless phone. The best thing about FIOS I have to say is that they use a proud union work force, not contractors that get paid by the job. You can be sure that your job will be done the the highest standards. As far as the cost, it all depends on what services you get. Such as type of stb (set top box) standard, standard dvr, hd, hd dvr. As well as options such as movies packages, internet speed, and landline services.

the guy above me is right again. if it happens during regular viewing or on all your recordings it could be a signal issue, so i would have a technician come out. if it is only that one time with the one recording then it was most likely an outage that occured at the time.
