Why were my Movie Channels taken away by Comcast?

QAM Channels on Comcast Atlanta/Norcross?

  • So I bought a new LCD TV for Christmas to upgrade my old analog TV up in my bedroom. Now I have Comcast cable in Atlanta with all of the bells and whistles in my family room but I do not have the box upstairs to get the additional channels. So anyway, I plug it in and do the channel search and I have all of these weird channels that come in. I did a little research and it looks to be QAM channels. Not really sure what that is but here is the kicker. I get multiple channels that are the same (88-1, 88-3, 88-5, etc) but it looks like I am getting pay per view too...well sort of. I get some sort of movie channels but at times it rewinds, fast forwards and pauses on it own. When the credits roll then it pauses. I change the channel and come back and the channel is gone, it gets replaced with Lifetime on Demand. Last night I got the movie Australia and that new Rainn Wilson movie (can't remember the name of it) but again, once the credits at the end of the movie come on it pauses. Can anyone explain this to me, what is going on with my TV/cable?

  • Answer:

Your TV is picking up your neighbor's video on demand. You're seeing them pause, rewind, etc.
