Question about Directv?

  • Was thinking of switching from cable to directv but I have a question first. In one of the bedrooms there isn't a cable outlet but I wanted to put a directv box in the room so my question is does the feed come from a cable outlet or from the box itself? if that makes sense. if you need to know more i can add to the question. thank you.

    They will need to run cable from that room to the satellite. The feed comes from the DirecTV satellite in space to your satellite at home to the cable box then to the TV

Each receiver must be connected, by a cable, to the satellite dish that the installer will attach to your roof. When we switched to satellite, we didn't have the proper cabling in our house to allow 2 separate receivers. So, the installer used the existing cabling to connect up the receiver in our bedroom, and then ran a new cable along the outside of the house, and then through the wall into our living room for the second receiver. This way, the living room and bedroom can watch separate shows at the same time. The person who will do your installation will be able to give you similar options.

If you are getting HD service from DIRECTV, a single line is brought into the house and then split. The signal will enter the bedroom or other rooms through the cable. This can be run external to your home if no wire is currently part of your homes wiring. It is quite possible that it can easily be run inside your home as well. We had the same issue when we switched to direct tv. And they did have to connect a cable through an outside wall. If I'm remembering correctly. But while it took a couple of weeks to get used to D.tv, I love it 2 yrs later!
