I just received a new (comcast) DVR and wanted to know if it could still record while is turn off?
-
I dont mean disconecting it i mean just hitting the power button to turn it off (well sort of, it still shows clock). Will it still record? or does it have to be ON all the way to record? I am kind of new to the Dvr thing so i plan to give it a test recording to see how it will work soon. PS.(if you can, can you answers these side questions too) How far in advance can i schedule a recording(s)?(days, weeks, months) And can i still watch regular TV while it is recording? if there is anything else you would like me to know about DVRs please feel free to tell me

Answer:
I have had the Comcast DVR box for years and here it the final answer to your question. Yes you can record shows with your cable box turned off as long as these dont happen you disconnect the Coax cable plugged into it You unplug/lose power You can have the TV off the cable box off and you will still record as the box will activated itself at the requested record time. you can set up a recording to record all future shows, for that program if you'd like, and yes you can record 1 show and watch another at the same time.

It should because it is one of the "always on" devices, meaning it actually powers down but never completely turns off. If you have your TV hooked up to just a cable as well, then you should be able to watch regular TV while it is recording.
