I don't know how we can type a Chinese character into the computer. As fas as I know, it has many strokes. So how can we combine the strokes to make a character?

Answer:
You need to use an input editor, like Microsoft's IME, which is part of Windows Xp and more commonly known as 'the language bar.' Such an input editor allows you to type in words phonetically (the way they are pronounced), after which the input editor then helps you choose the character you were looking for. For example, you want to write the Chinese character 我. This is pronounced as 'wo' and it means 'I' or 'me.' So you type 'wo' on your keyboard with your Chinese input turned on. Then, the input editor will display a little list of all the characters in Chinese that are pronounced 'ma' and you can choose the one you are looking for. Most of the time people typing Chinese will type words consisting of two, three or more characters and then choose the right combination of characters from the list the input editor displays. If you don't have an input editor on your computer and don't want to or don't know how to install one, there is one online here that you can play around with: http://www.chinese-tools.com/tools/ime.html

You can use the Chinese Global IME like someone suggested, or you can try NJStar. I find that NJStar works a whole lot better, minus a lot of techincal probs with installing things.

have you tried changing your keyboard's language?

You can use pinyin. In Windows 2000 and XP, you can install the Chinese languages, which should come with the Windows installation CD. Once you have the Chinese languages installed, you can then change the input method. There are many ways to do the input, for example, pinyin, jian yi, chang jie, number of strokes...etc. You pick the input method that you want and then you can type Chinese in your computer. I have done it before and I use pinyin to type Chinese
