Does ram affect how smooth minecraft is on a higher render distance? or what does it do to minecraft?

Heyy, I was just wondering if I got a RAM upgrade, would it run minecraft smoother on higher render distance (view distance)... I can play world of warcraft on the maximum 60FPS on the full view distance, however minecraft seems to get about 10-15FPS:'( I really enjoy minecraft, and this is real annoying, I get about 50-60 FPS on tiny render distance! Also I have got 3GB RAM and a load of money from christmas, so I'm gonna buy 8GB from crucial.com:D

Minecraft is a very CPU-intensive game, and more RAM definitely speeds up performance, especially when you dedicate some of it specially to java for Minecraft. Its a wise investment to upgrade your RAM, because playing Minecraft will get a lot smoother. 8 GBs + of RAM will be plenty to play on full render distance at fps rates of 30 to 100. I spent a lot on my computer, and it's got 16 GBs of RAM. More definitely equals more because I can run the game at 400+ fps. So any increase in RAM will therefore increase the gameplay quality of Minecraft. I hope this helps! :)

Yes, upgrading your ram could make a potential increase in speed. Its a really CPU intensive game, therefore it wont make it 100% better but it will definitively help. Think of it this way, Ram (In minecraft terms) is like..How much space you give it to work around. The more space the more productive it would be. Thought also if you have a single core processor such as pentium 4, it will not be fast. Try to aim for a NON integrated video card too, They're a lot better and will make the rendering even better.
