DVD Drives very slow after Windows XP Reinstallation?
-
Hi guys I recently reinstalled Windows XP after by MBR became damaged only to find that my DVD drives are operating very slow - it takes over an hour to burn a single layer DVD disc, and any programs installing from my DVD drive slow down my computer majorly - the mouse becomes near impossible to move, as well as the keyboard. I have a new computer and have never had to reinstall my drivers onto it -the specs are : Core 2 Duo on an ASUS PH5 DH Deluxe 2 GB RAM (DDR2) x1900 Graphics Card 400 GB IDE hard drive 250 GB IDE hard drive (slave) To add to my problems, ever since I built this system my drives have been unreliable and I'm almost certain its not to do with their lifespan - theyre relatively new drives and have been treated well, yet ocassionally they will click over and over and the computer will restart. My BIOS reports that my DVD Drives are active as THIRD IDE MASTER and SLAVE, something which I dont understand at all. Can anyone help with this matter?
