Missing multimedia audio controller.

Windows XP Multimedia Audio Controller?

  • I recently had a bad virus attack on my computer. I ended up reloading all my Microsoft XP software onto the computer and blocking access to the infected copy of the program. After reloading everything I found I was without sound on the new copy. I tried reinstalling the driver for the missing multimedia audio controller from the discs I had, but it was not found. I have not been able to download a driver from the dell or microsoft websites for no apparent reason. The computer is also telling me I have no audio devices on the computer. I have checked the speakers with other devices, and they are working wonderfully. I have done the research and have only been going in circles. Could there be a problem with the sound card?

  • Answer:

If you can’t find the right sound drivers manually I would recommend just getting a software program that can do it for you. There is a program I use which will find drivers for just about all hardware devices. The best part is it takes a snapshot of your system specifications and matches the right driver to go with it.
