How do I get my scanner to work with my computer?

I got a new scanner at a garage sale, hooked it up to my computer, yet I can't get it to work with the computer. Any suggestions?

Probably needs a driver. Go to the scanner manufacturers website to get the driver, download and install the driver. Then plug in the scanner.

It the scanner is old and you cant' find the driver on the manufacturer's site, there are websites that store old drivers. http://www.windrivers.com is one of them.
