HELP With An External Monitor on Old Dell Laptop?

Dell Inspiron 1150 turns on; no monitor display?

  • I have a Dell Inspiron 1150 that I want to get running. When I originally had it, it worked fine. Unfortunately I left it in a bad place and someone knocked it over. So now it is a little broken. The laptop does turn on, and the CPU fan spins. But there is no monitor output- on the laptop monitor or an external monitor. I have tried plenty of different processors and RAM- even starting the computer with only the bare necessities. Now I don't think there is an easy way to fix this- my guess it that its a cracked solder joint somewhere on the motherboard (I checked the whole thing over, no signs of physical damage to the motherboard) which would be too hard to fix. I tried finding the monitor shutoff switch that most laptops have, but I could not find it. If anyone happens to know a possible answer to this question, please let me know. Any suggestion should help.

  • Answer:

Some small parts in your motherboard got loose due to the shock or impact.
