What computer Monitor should I get?

I need a new monitor for my computer and need some help deciding what kind to get?

  • My computer can handle a max resolution of 1280 x 1040. If I get a monitor with a higher resolution will I be wasting money or worse, ruining the picture?

  • Answer:

For sure your PC can handle a new monitor... Just a Resolution don't have to bothered yourself tho... I sugest you get a " Samsung" 940 BW series LCD with 5Ms response time... You won"t regret it...I have one Don't have problem with it ... Or if you want a Monitor that with the same Specs like the Branded ones... Get "ViewSonic " durable and Cheap.... "CRT" or "LCD".... Hope this helps you decide ok....

If you want to by a monitor, you can try Acer AL1916Fbd. Your computer can handle a max resolution of 1280 x 1040. The recommend Resolution of Acer AL1916Fbd is : 1280 x 1024. And I find that a recent deal for it is only $190. You can have a look: http://dealstudio.com/viewtopic.php?t=31644

Do you "need" a new monitor, or "want" a new monitor. If you "need" a new monitor, then ask a few friends. Certainly, someone has a used monitor that the shoved in the corner after buying a nifty new flat screen. I personally a have three of them and will gladly give one to you for the cost of shipping. If you "want" a new monitor, then no one can answer the question. You want what you want, and you're just looking for someone to justify your emotional decision. The resolution is only a factor of what your eyes can handle. I can't comfortable read 1280x1040 text on a smaller monitor. So, unless the monitor is larger than 17", don't worry about it.

The resolution available is based on your video card. If that is the max your video card can produce, you might want to consider a new video card at the same time. A new monitor will work okay at that resolution, but it would be a bit of a waste unless your old monitor has crapped out and you do indeed need a new one. Unless you are in need of a new monitor, I wouldn't bother until you are prepared to upgrade your video card. If you can only afford to do one, buy the video card first.

No the monitor only displays what it can handle.
