Trying to use my TV as my Computer Monitor, but I get a weird bar...?
-
I'm trying to use my Westing House 32'' LCD TV as my computer monitor, but when i put the resolution of 1360x768, i get a error on the display. Its a long vertical bar that flickers and seems to overlap the left side. I tried downloading Powerstrip to try and put in the native resolution which is 1366x768, but still no luck. I am using Windows XP Pro SP2, with a xfx nVidia 7950GT 512mb card. 1gb of Ram, AMD Fx57 proc, two WD raptors (74gb). If anyone has seen this problem or have had it, and possible found a resolution.. please post it, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, it is connecting via DVI, and i have it set to extended desktop. Thanks in advance.. Derek

Answer:
you must understand that even though you have the top of the line LCD TV it still cannot support the resolution that most computer monitors enjoy........good luck

thats the default TV resolution, using it as a monitor the res might be a bit lower I suspect if you go down to the next widescreen res (im looking at laptop widescreen monitor resolutions to try and get you close.. ) try 1280x800.. it seems to be the closest resolution I can see

Try simplifying things. Stop using Extended desktop, have the tv the only monitor hooked up, if the tv has a vga in use that. Now try booting the computer in safe mode if that works then implement changes ONE at a time. You may have to try different resolutions (start out with a low one) and refresh rate (60 isa good bet) Hope this helps Doug
