Why did my cursor change to an up arrow?

How do i change my cursor to a regular arrow?

    Jorge had an excellent answer for XP, so I cant add more, so I'll tell you how to do it for Vista. In Vista, Right click any blank spot on your desktop, choose personalize, then mouse pointers. If you made the mistake of downloading a "cool mousepointer" from the internet, you also have to worry about spyware. Run your antispyware program in safe mode

Assuming you have Windows Xp (it should also work with 98 also), you would have to go to the Control Panel, which can be found in the Start Menu, or if you open My Computer, you can find it in the Address Bar drop-down box. Once there, there is a couple of options. XP has multiple views, which are Category and Classic. In category, select the 'Printers and Other Hardware' link and then the Mouse link, and in Classic, select the 'Mouse' icon. Once that box appears, go to the 'Pointers' tab, and you can change any style by douple clicking. The 'Normal Select' is probably what you are looking for, and you can find the arrow_m file. Or, you can change the scheme to be Windows Default. Hope this helps!

UN install the mouse driver then re start computer, a new driver will be installed automatically.

start> control panel> printers and other hardware> mouse> under pointers, highlight "normal select" hit use default.

Go to Control Panel, click "cursors" and pick the one you want. (You can download a cursor program and do the same with much more choice).

Open your Control Panel, double-click the Mouse icon, then click on the Pointers tab, then select Windows Default (System Scheme) in the Scheme section. Your cursor is now the regular cursor.
