How do u clean your laptop?

  • Every now and then i keep hearing people saying they have just cleaned their pc.How do u do that?

  • Answer:

the following assumes you are using windows xp Go to "Start", "All Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools", and then select "Disk Cleanup". Under the "Disk Cleanup" tab check all the boxes except; "Compress old files" and "Catalog files for the Content Indexer", then select "OK" and "Yes" to perform these actions. You could also remove unused programs (control panel > add/remove). Its pretty much ok to remove anything you're familiar with and are confident you wont need to use in future. Wise to stay clear of anything you're not _completely_ sure about. ccleaner is an excellent application thats free, and assisst with system cleanup: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds next, run a spyware checker. if you dont already have one, you might like to try~ http://www.spywareterminator.com/ or http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/ Once you've done this, you could through your hard drive and remove any large files you no longer need. You could also have a look through your email client (if you use one) and sort your old emails by size. once youve done this, delete any with large attachments which you no longer need. Now defrag your hard disk. Start/programs/accessories/disk defragmenter with that done you may want to check your registry for redundancies and errors. If you dont already have a registry cleaner you might like to try~ http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ecleane.htm or http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm you could then defrag your page file and registry (standard defrag does not achieve this - a step often overlooked in tune-up literature) http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/PageDefrag.zip It may be worth checking each hard drive with 'scandisk'. there are other issues such as lost clusters and bad sectors that the defragmentation utility cannot touch. It's a good idea to run XP's built in error checking utility on your drives every 2-3 months. This utility will scan your disks for errors and optionally attempt to correct them. Open 'My Computer' from the desktop. 'Right-click' on your main hard drive, (usually 'C:'). Select 'properties' then 'tools' and under 'error checking' select 'check now…'. Check both 'Automatically fix file system errors' and 'Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors'. Restart your machine. 'Scandisk' will run during startup and can take a while depending on the size of your drive.

You get disinfectant wipes. Wipe your laptop screen first, then wipe your keyboard, sides, etc. Then, take a regular tissue, and dry the laptop and there you go: You have just cleaned your laptop.

Do they mean clean the laptop physically or clean it from all the junk on it?

Please, don't use any chemicals cleaning display. Use soft cloth without lints damped with warm plain water and squeeze it well. The same for the surface of your comp. In case it is very stained, you can add a drop of liquid hand soap (not for the display). Trust me, this is the best way to clean if you really care about your comp.

they have deleted all the history, temporary files, cookies, unused programs, defraged, scanned for viruses ect ect ect

1. Dilute isopropyl alcohol (not rubbing alcohol, as it may contain oil) into a solution of no greater than 50% alcohol and 50% with distilled water / deionised water. Purified / bottled water works well too. 2. Put the solution in a small atomiser bottle, the type that you push from the top to get a fine mist. It works really well at getting just the right amount on your screen with a spray on each quadrant. 3. Apply the solution to a cotton cloth, such as an old T-shirt, lint-free microfiber cloth, or other very soft cloth. A large cloth is best, since it will help to reduce the risk of leaving streaks across the screen from finger pressure. 4. Wipe the cloth against the screen in a counter-clockwise, or other consistent motion. Apply an even pressure to the cloth but take care not to press your fingers into the cloth or screen. * Expensive store-bought products contain the same mixture of alcohol and water. Others include Ethylene Glycol. You really do not need all these additions, which may be harmful to your health and that of the environment. * If you apply too much of the solution and it is drippy or too damp, wipe it off with a soft cloth and apply less. * Tissues will likely leave flakes of paper on your monitor. It's better to not even try using them. * You don't want mineral spots on your screen, so don't use tap water. * Using a 100% cotton cloth or shirt alone, without the alcohol mix, can sometimes produce the same smudge-free results without going to the trouble of mixing your own solution. * If you're a photographer, you can use your lint-free lens wipes instead of a soft cotton cloth. * If you are looking for a cheap way to get your hands on ready-made cleaning solution, try CD/DVD cleaner, which is often 55% Isopropyl alcohol and is not harmful to most plastic surfaces. * Lint free cotton cloth will work best. * If you are the owner of a lacquered instrument you can use a dry polishing cloth. You have to use a bit more force with dried on spots, but with smudges it works just fine. * If you have lens cleaner for eyeglasses, check the back to see if it contains "Isopropanal" as it should work just as well, and may already come in the proper spray bottle.
