  • Answer:

Since the external monitor works this is a good sign that the graphics card is working, however from the sounds of it the LCD might be going bad. The best step before replacing the LCD will be trying to reseat the display cable on the System Board (motherboard). The Service Manual for reseating the display cable or replacing the LCD can be viewed here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latd510/en/sm/display.htm#wp1073337 If after reseating the display cable it still does not work then the LCD will need to be replaced. A replacement LCD can be ordered from Dell by calling 1-800-357-3355. If the system is still under warranty it might be best to contact Dell directly. Support options for your system can be viewed at http://support.dell.com I hope this helps. Additional Details: If you are using a C510 the Service Manual is very similar and it can be viewed here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latc610/sm_en/display.htm#1001090 The troubleshooting steps will be the same as previously stated.
