Why is my Yahoo music always saying "connecting" and it never really plays?

Windows XP Compaq V5000 Laptop Blank Screen?

  • I went to boot up the laptop and the screen turns on and the start up music plays but there is nothing on the screen. I have taken-out the battery and restarted several times. I have also tried reaching safe-mode by pressing F8 (along with all the other "F" keys) as well as rebooting the motherboard by unplugging the white cable connecting the monitor to the motherboard that is just above the keyboards left side. I am pretty much stumped at this point, thus my question being posted on yahoo answers... So, anyone have any ideas or need anymore information?

  • Answer:

Try plugging a desktop monitor into VGA port of your laptop and then turning on the laptop. It SHOULD put video on the monitor. If not consult the "FN" keys to see if there is a key combination to put video on the screen. Try system restore from here. (If system restore fails from here turn off or uninstall antivirus to make it work) Is the screen just not back lit? if it is not back lit then it is the inverter that supplies power to the back-light. Or the back light. (Buy new screen or new computer) If no video and no monitor works then the video section of the Motherboard is probably fried. Further troubleshooting really requires a tech to either walk you through or to do it themselves. Good luck!
