How To Format Computer?

How do you format a dell desktop computer with windows xp that has been hacked?

  • Yes I have already tried to do it w/ "local dick (C:) > Format" but it comes up with an error and none of the programs really work because of the hack (no it doesn't have internet connection anymore). Do you know any other way to format it or fix my problem? I don't care to save anything on it; a new start would be nice. Also I don't want anyone saying "go to the computer guy", because I'm not going to. If I go it would be for a new computer not to fix an 8 year old tower which was my fist computer as well as my introduction to computers (lot of internal and external damage). Not to mention it has already been in storage for 2years now. This is why I wish to empty the hard drive.

  • Answer:

Go get a windows cd. (I dont care how you do it. You can find wnidows xp cheap probably. If you have some windows xp cd laying around go ahead and pop it in your cd/dvd drive.) now there should be an option to bring up a boot screen when the bios post. press F11 sometimes and select the drive that has the windows disk in it. Now after that you should get an options screen, just hit the obvious one to install windows. If you do everything right, you'll come to a part where it displays your hard drive, you can format and hdd there, and reinstall windows. I'd reccommend doing a full-format, not just the quick one. Good luck.
