How can I copy file from Windows to Ubuntu?

QUESTION RE: UBUNTU & WINDOWS XP OS?

  • I recently had a problem with my WINDOWS XP and so I formatted the drive and hope to install a fresh copy of WINDOWS XP PRO on my 20GB hard drive... somewhere in the process it gives me a: file usbehci.sys file corrupted... my only option is to press any key to restart. So now I had wiped out the OS and was left with nothing on computer. So I downloaded UBUNTU and installed that from a bootable CD and it is now working.... My problem is now how can I install WINDOWS XP... I keep having the same problem with file usbehci.sys.... why is it that in WIN XP the only thing that I can think of was that one of the USB was not working but with UBUNTU the USB works fine. I only have two USB's one in back that worked fine before and the front one that didn't but when I installed UBUNTU it did.... How can I work around this problem? How can I even check why I get this error on WINDOWS XP SETUP??? My computer is a PHOENIX BIOS Version 4.0, Intel Celeron 533Mhz by Hewlett Packard, with a 20.4GB ATA Quantum Fireball HD. it has 512MB of Ram, and an onboard video card about 1MB, and everything else seems to work fine.

I also have both Win XP and Ubuntu on one of my computers (the one I am using to send this) - Why don't you go into Google and type, 'usbehci.sys and you will see that you need the driver - Here is one of the many sites for your XP problem: http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-xp/file-usbehcisys-cannot-be-found/154681.html Hope this helps

Seems that you have a problem with your copy of windows xp. You need another copy of XP. unfortunately, microsoft is no longer selling WinXP. So you have to buy either Vista or Win7. Or you can try with someone's copy of WinXP (but I think using others copy of windows is illegal, if that is illegal then I am forbidding you not to do that). But for win7 or vista you need to upgrade your PC a lot. So if Ubuntu runs well in your PC then why bother?
