How can I restore my Windows XP toolbar?

Help With My Windows XP!!! Not able to restore!?

  • I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 and Windows XP with service pack 2 installed...I do not have my windows cd and now my computer is messed up...Basically I can not reinstall windows because it wont permit me and it wont boot from cd...I can not do ANYTHING on my computer because for some reason even in admin windows will not permit me to make ANY changes...... Basically the only solution I can find is to boot from ms dos and use dos mode to format the c:/ and reinstall windows vista....Can anyone tell me how to do that??? I need to know how to boot from dos and what commands in dos will format and what command will reinstall windows once the format is done......or if I can then boot from cd.... Or if anyone knows any other solution please feel free to suggest a solution....thanks

  • Answer:

When you say "it wont boot from cd", did you go into your BIOS and set the first boot device from your hard drive to your cd drive? You must have your Win XP CD to boot/repair XP so anything you try to do is not going to work very well without it. Have you try rebooting into Safe Mode and using the Admin tools from their to correct your problem(s)? You have to change you BIOS set up and look up Sart up device and make your laptop to boot from CD first ,I think in Dell when you restart keep on hittin F2 OR F1 key it will take you to bios page and set your start up device from there,Your Restore system could be Disabled first you have to enable it,,,,My Comuter>>right click >>Property >>Restore tab >>if your restore box is checked just UNCHECK it ,when you restart again it will restore...

sam I am

I have some suggests for you. 1. Start up Windows normally, right click "My computer" choose "manage" --> click Disk Management and your right hand panel, if you see hidden partition, it's Windows Restore Disk. 2. Now restart Windows and push F10 continuously, it'll lead you to restore Windows version and do as shown. 3. If not, try repair your Windows before to last solution "format": Push F2, F12 or DEL button when you start up Windows & choose first boot is CD-Drive, push your Windows CD into drive and push F10 to save it. Now when your computer start up with CD, it'll ask you make new or repair and what you wanna repair, choose repair and it'll help you (Important: there're 2times asked repair and choose repair at 2nd time after you pushed F8) 4.If you don't wanna repair or can not, make new Windows after step 2. However you have to reinstall all your softwares and it's trouble for searching CD Key. Mail to me if you wanna ask somethings.
