I do not get any sound from my speakers?
-
Hi I recently installed an internal modem and a sound card simultaneously. The modem is working- I do not know about the card for I am not getting any sound from my speakers. Not sure if it is the speakers that is faulty or the soundcard that is installed incorrectly(I have done it twice). Tell me how I can fix this in laymens terms and can it be the soundcard that is not compatible with the speaker make(both real cheapos) Genius 5.1 PCI audio sound card and enceintes usb Connetland speakers. Please help. P.S when I plug in earphones that normally work on my MP3 I still get no sound. When I connect ot the internet I do get the whole ringing/connecting sound but I presume it eminates from the modem itself. I have a dail-up connection. I need sound for my tutorial material...

Answer:
So, you receive sound when you log on to the internet? And you double checked all the connections? Have you tried checking if the cables are really in the correct places? Sometimes when my sister moves my stuff she reconnects the cables in the wrong ports. And do the speakers need to be plugged in? to be honest, it sounds like the soundcard you got may be busted. you should have that checked out.

Go to this website and install your driver for the sound card http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/companies/430.htm Also double-check everything is plugged in and powered up. G.L.

well other then doing those things, are you sure your sound card can run on your system. Some new syastem connot run older soundcards (example: 64 bit systems may not run 32 bit drivers). Also, or some drivers cannot run on Windows 2000 or later systems if they were made for Windows 95,98 I would also check for the manufactuers site, see if they have new drivers or solutions.

Maybe you're having compatibility issues between your motherboard and sound card? Make sure you're sound card is snapped in all the way into it's bus, and install any software that came with the card. That's all I could really tell you. I'm really no expert on sound cards, sorry.
