just get more ram... its dropping as the time goes.. if you actually own pro tools you should be able to go out and purchase more ram.

you can record your vocal in windows xp you need a microphone and do the following start>program>accessories>intertainmen…

ramesh_c27

Start->All Programs->Accessories->Sound->Sound Recorder and it converts your vocals to .wav, so you'll have. to convert it to .mp3

You have low ram at list you need 1GB and you can use any soft wares the easiest is Nero 7 ** Nero sound tr ax** you have a lot of options like mixed CD project, Miltie sound projects,5.1 surround project and other just click one of this option which you want when you got what you want on top there are option you click audio then you have option like record import from audio CD if you want to record you will get record setting then you choose the destination of the file t.e to save it when you say OK it comes recording console start recording you have mic option direct there you can change the volume and you can change the saving target too when you click record you can start your voice or singing or other it start recording by the way you can choose the bit too and the file must to save it as wave after wards if you want you can change it in file in Nero you have Nero encode file so if you see it you have a lot of option just open the file and you can change it as the file you want it there are other they have the same concept try to see it carefully think it is this one easy wish you got me.

I have a fast track too. But i have one gig RAM. I have used ableton live 7 on 512MB RAM. And it runs smooth. But I would still suggest you that invest a little money on buying a new RAM. It will help you in long run. Recording vocals and all is ok, but when it comes to music production, you will atleast need 1gb. The vst's and vsti's eatup lotta memory. For now you can use sonar. I have never used sonar, but I've checked the features on their site, they are quite similar to cubase. Maybe you can create a new audio track, record enable it(der must be a button), and hit the main record button. And yeah, dont forget to plug your mic and raise the preamp level before doing that. P.S- I you are using condensor mic, then you will have to switch on the 48v phantom power switch on the back of you sound card.
