Recording with a Camcorder onto your PC?

I need Help getting video from my camcorder onto my PC?

  • I have a JVC GR-D27OU. I bought a firewire and hooked it up to the back and front ports of my PC but movie maker does not want to recongnize the cassette tape. I have the tape playing when I try to capture but only a black screen is recording on the PC. The only time the PC recognizes the camcorder is when the usb is hooked to the PC

  • Answer:

Buy a firewire and make sure you have a firewire card installed inside your computer and plug it into your computer and camcorder. Once that is done a pop-up down the bottom should appear. Use A editing program or movie maker and import away. Your problem is really you don't a firewire card installed on your computer. Buy one from any computer store they cost about $60 AUD. We had this problem for a job we were doing and finally found out the problem. Hope this helps Cheers Adam

I have a DV Camcorder that I use a firewire with. You should be able to run it through a program like windows movie maker and this puts the movie into your computer. This is the only way that I know to put it onto your computer without putting it on a DVR. You could do this too, then just transfer the DVD to the computer.
