Windows 7 Home Premium to Ultimate Upgrade (64 Bit)- Advice Needed?
-
Hi i am currently using Windows 7 Home Premium (64 Bit) and i would like to upgrade to Win 7 Ultimate (64 Bit). I have downloaded and run Win 7 Upgrade Advisor and it states i can upgrade to Win 7 Professional 64 Bit and Ultimate (64 Bit). I have checked Microsoft's price for this upgrade from Home Premium to Ultimate and i have also found the same package on Amazon where it is £31 less expensive. The package on Amazon is the licence only and by having a read of reviews, i am told, you receive a box and in this box is the product code needed for the upgrade. I am upgrading from Home Premium to Ultimate as i need to use Microsoft Virtual PC and this unfortunately does not work on Win 7 Home Premium. When i download it, it states that it will only work on Win 7, Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate. 1) My first question is the Amazon link below is for the upgrade that i need, but i am not sure if it is a 64 bit. The upgrade Advisor states that i can only upgrade to a 64 bit OS. Can someone confirm that this product on amazon is the same upgrade that the windows anytime upgrade is offering. 2) My second question is about choosing the Microsoft option, i know that if i purchase from Amazon it will take a couple of days for it to arrive but am i correct in thinking if i purchase this using anytime upgrade on my desktop, that as soon as i pay i will receive the product code online and i will then be able to upgrade the same day. I am not in a rush to upgrade but if i do it through windows anytime upgrade, will the upgrade to ultimate be instant and happen on the same day. By choosing the windows anytime upgrade option it will cost more but is this price increase worth it or should i purchase it from amazon and wait a couple of days to receive it. --------------------------------------… Links to Microsoft and Amazon Upgrade Purchase: Home Premium to Ultimate (Microsoft Price Link):http://emea.microsoftstore.com/UK/en-GB/%E2%80%A6 Home Premium to Ultimate (Amazon Price Link): http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-Window%E2%80%A6 --------------------------------------… NOTE: If in your answers you want more information from me, I would like to let you know that I will constantly be keeping an eye on the question as I have it on my mobile. Answer:
All I can tell you is that there is a risk involved when purchasing Windows from some sources. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/windows-7-not-genuine/132c9b34-946f-4235-a37e-d0e947eb2f44 The links didn't work for me. I upgraded from Windows Vista 64 bit to Windows 7 64 bit. I bought it through microsoft online. The upgrade was done within an hour or so if I remember correctly but by any means it was the same day. The download came with both 32 bit and 64 bit versions. If you select the upgrade option when installing it it will keep all of your software and files. Look in your start menu for Windows Anytime Upgrade. It might offer a better price. Good Luck, Keith Edit-I am all for saving money but beware-http://www.bing.com/search?q=I+bought+Microsoft+Windows+from+Amazon+and+now+it+is+not+genuine%3F&FORM=HPDTDF&pc=HPDTDF&src=IE-SearchBox Edit-I went to the Amazon link that you provided. From there I went to the comments or reviews. Please read the last two reviews generated from the page you gave us. Note that it sometimes will take awhile for Microsoft to flag a key so reviews that are wrote right away will be good. http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/B002M78BPK/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt/279-0829211-2292366?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1

Unfortunately, my friend, neither of the links that you provide actually take you anywhere ... except to a 404 page not found and 404 document not found error.

Don't do anything until you call Microsoft. I tried to upgrade from windows vista to windows ultimate and they told me that I can't do that. They said that you can only upgrade to windows vista ultimate from windows vista. If I wanted to upgrade from vista to vista ultimate I would need to buy more software. I was furious. Call Microsoft. Do NOT waste your money until you know you are getting the upgrade you want. Microsoft is a den of crooks.
