Computer jobs that make good money?

• Ok so long story short, i'm approching my 30's and i dont have a degree, I'm stuck at low paying jobs because I don't have a skill,I don't have the time or money to go to collage right now because i need to work to make my few hundred dollars a week and this is a very vicious cycle. I'm very computer savy, I taught myself how to use html and css and I can pretty much learn anything that has to do with computers and internet very fast. Is there some type of computer job that doesnt require a degree but only a course or certificate? Something that I can finish off in a year or less, get a certificate and start working and earning good money? Any suggestions will be great. Thank you, God bless

  Most of the good paying computer jobs require a 4 year Computer Science or MIS degree. Even then it is hard to get a good paying computer job, it takes years of experience and ladder climbing to get to the top rungs. These would be for Computer Engineering or Computer Programming jobs. At the beginning of the dot com boom in the last 1990's it was easier to get a decent paying job because there were more jobs than people, and you could job hop and climb the pay ladder at each new job. Back then they still demanded a degree, but with less experience. Maybe only 1 year of experience, although maybe sometimes a 2 year degree and 2 years experience, etc. Once in a while you could get that job without a degree if you had the experience to show off. There is another way, that would be to start your own computer business. If you are the boss, you don't need the degree. If you don't think starting your own business is an option, then how about taking some classes at a local college? Just start with one class, one hour, and go from there. Take a class that for sure can be applied to a degree. It would take a few years, but it would be fun.
