Perhaps it was disabled by a virus. First off all make sure you are now clean: To regain control of your computer for Task Manager, Regedit and Folder Options that have been disabled by a virus download this tool to fix: http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2007/06/28/restore-task-manager-regedit-and-folder-options-disabled-by-virus/ wdw

when you open the ''MY DOCUMENTS'' it gives you a box on the screen..right? At the bottom of that box ON THE LEFT it will say something like ''file name and files of types'' and it gives you a drop down box. with stuff such as ''works documents'' ok so far? In the drop-down box, you have the option of choosing ''ALL FILES'' so choose that option My guess is that your lost files will be in that box when its showing ''ALL FILES''

You cannot find it because it is hidden! Shhhhhh, don't tell anyone...

Gone for good...

To display hidden files and folders Open Folder Options in Control Panel. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Double-click Folder Options. On the View tab, under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders. Notes Hidden files and folders will appear dimmed to indicate they are not typical items. Usually, hidden files are program or system files that should not be deleted or changed. To display other hidden files, clear the Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) check box. If you know the name of a hidden file or folder, you can search for it. For more information, click Related Topics. If you want to see all file name extensions, clear the Hide file extensions for known file types check box.

In Search click "More Advanced Options" there is an option to search hidden files and folders there.

Open any folder, maybe the one you think the hidden files are in. Click on "Tools" then "Folder Options." Click the "View" tab, scroll to "Hidden files and folders" and click the button next to "Show hidden files and folders." Fianlly click the OK button. Hidden files should be visible! BTW, if you do not know where the hidden file/folder is located, do a "search" for it. Then you can right click on the search result to open the containing folder. Hope this helps, Husnain.
