What are seeds and peers in Utorrent?

How come i cant connect to all seeds on utorrent?

• ok so i have utorrent 1.7.7 and my connection settings are fine i can connect to a couple maybe 5 seeds out of like 40 and something like 10 peers out of what ever the number is and i only end up with an average of 16kbs download. is the reason for my slow download because of the limited number of seeds i can connect to? if so how can i improve it because in the comments people talk bout getting 300kbs and complain that its slow? cheers

  Fazjr0, slow downloading happens because: 1. You do not have a fast internet speed, your ISP provider give you a downloading and an uploading speed. The fastest downloading speed you are going to see in your system is what your ISP provides divided by 8. I have 1000 kbps service, the best I can get is 125 kBps. This speed is spread among all the active downloads you have at any moment. 2. Like you said, it also depends on how many seeders and leechers there are in the swarm AND in the internet speed of them and what they are doing in their system (nothing you can do about that). 3. The people who claims 300kBps and complain is because they have far better (faster) internet service. 4. You being in Australia has nothing to do with your performance. 5. Sometimes internet providers limit their service when they monitor you are using it to download torrents because the amount of bandwidth you use. This I know has been a case in USA, I do not know in your country.
