Answer:
Yes, it is possible, alot of people have created themes for XP. I've also created a Vista theme my self for Windows XP. You can download this if you wish (Provided in sources), it's notthing popular. Once downloaded extract the file to "C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes". You should now be able to change your theme by right-clicking on your desktop "Properties..." then "Appearance" and select "VistaXP" and then click "Ok" and it should be done. If the theme doesn't appear out too well, you can use something like Tune-Up Utilities Styler, or StarSkin to change the theme. Once done you can uninstall the program and your theme should stay like that for ever, until you change it again.

as far as themes go, the best option ive come across us the uxtheme.dll patcher. all this does is patch one of your xp files so that you can use themes. from there, there is about 20 or 30 vista themes you can install. The advantage to using this over a transformation pack is that it has very low cpu/ram usage so doeant slow down your machine. also, its native, so doesn't involve running any third party applications. http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/UXTheme-MultiPatcher.shtml when it installs, windows will grumble about it and say something about replacing a system file. just follow the prompts and click ok. from there just go somewhere like http://www.deviantart.com and search for 'vista theme' then put some themes somewhere. to install just double click the theme file. as gar as widgets go, google aqnd yahoo both make them. just google 'google desktop gadgets' or 'yahoo widgets' bear in mind that there is no 'low profile' option for this and that running widgets/gadgets is a third party application so will consume cpu and ram and may slow down your machine. if you have a fast machine obviously this isn't a concern. have fun!
