If I uninstall, then reinstall my iTunes, will I lose all my music?

If i uninstall itunes, then reinstall it again, will i still have my music?

  • I recently have had a problem. Every time I try to open itunes, it brings up a box saying, "itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close, we are sorry for the inconvenience" I cant seem to figure out why it keeps doing this. Somebody please help me. I can't live without my music.

  • Answer:

Yes. iTunes is only a program that plays your music, like Windows Media Player. The music files stay intact on your computer; without iTunes or WMP you should not be able to play. Uninstalling and reinstalling should not hurt anything. You may have to have iTunes re-catalog your music, but the music files will be there. Other answers

(assuming you let itunes organize your music) -go to the music folder -Copy all of the music to your desktop, or just somewhere other than the music folder (do NOT copy the folder called "iTunes") -uninstall -delete the folder called "iTunes" in your music folder -reinstall -copy all of your music back (drag it into itunes) -then consolidate (its like File-Library-Organize tick consolidate files and wait for it to finish)
