how to make Textboxes transparent?

Gimp 2, how to make picture transparent?

• i dont want to make it 100% transparent. about 20%~30% and later i want to make it not transparent again. so what i want to do is : putting 2 pictures together. pic1 and pic2 pic2 will be on top of pic1 and i want pic2 be kinda like see through, so i can draw and do more editing. later when im done editing, i want to make pic2 not transparent again. how do i do it? i try the eraser with less transparency, but i couldn't find out how to make it not transparent again after i did some editing on it, without removing my editing, which i used (CTRL-Z) undo. i do not want to use undo, because it will remove my editing
