Is SQL Server or oracle more employable?

Oracle/Java/MS SQL: Is it a 60k rewarding training ?

  • Today, one of my friends encouraged me to enrolled for the following computer classes which she were told is hot job of the day and would earn $60k at the end of the programm. Unfortunately, both of us do not have a computer scinence back ground. Does this make sense to you? Do you think someone like me and my friend can start from scratch, and make miracle with in six months just by completing the following courses? Those of you in the profession please say something !Following are courses : 1. Oracle DBA for 64 hours 2. Oracle Financial Functional and/or Technical for 64 hours 3. Oracle Forms and Reports Developer for 48 hours 4. MS SQL Server for 64 hours 5. Java Programming for 80 hours

  • Answer:

Nope. The job opportunities are there, but nobody is going to pay $60k for a job that someone can learn in a crash course. If it's that easy to do, no one would get a four year degree in the subject. You need some background. Have you done programming on your own, just for fun? Do you have a good understanding of the logic behind programming? How much math have you taken? Calculus? Linear Algebra? I'm really skeptical that you can do this from a standing start with no background. You could certainly learn it, but not that quickly.
