Is the Sony PRS 600 e-reader worth it?
-
I've been waiting for over a couple of months for any new e readers to come out but there's been nothing noteworthy - forget the ipad (that's not an e reader for the hardcore readers because it's backlit). I was sold on the kindle until a few weeks ago when I learned that if I were to import it to the UK, there would be all those extra fees and on top of that - my ebook selection woul be limited and the prices would be considerably higher for the ebooks than in the states because of VAT. Also learned that Amazon (as much I trust them in all other areas) - they can remotely emove ebooks from the kindle - SO THAT'S A NO GO. While the sony e readers have never really appealed to me (aesthetic) wise, they have grown on me - especially the prs 300 (which is too small for me). I'm looking into the 600 now. I've heard that the ebook selection for the sony is limited but that's not true - the readers accept more formats than the kindle! AND I've found alot of ebooks already which I can downlaod into the sony reader were I too buy one now. So here's my dilemma. Should I buy the sony prs600 - even though there is that little glare on the screen or should I wait till the end of this year until something more worthy is released? BUT I don't want to wait till the end of the year (September would be the latest I would wait till). Should I get this e reader NOW and when technology has advanced further regarding the e readers in the next year or so, get another one? I know that ASUS have revealed an ereader which is supposed to come out late this year - but there is no pricing or release date as of yet. Plus, ASUS do tend to push their release dates back quite often. So, it the sony prs-600 worth it for now?

Answer:
You can find the Sony Reader PRs-600 in red here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002MSHQ46?ie=UTF8&tag=querystr-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B002MSHQ46 Actually Amazon only deleted book once, and it has apologize for the problem. I think it won't happen again, here is the news about that issue: http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory?id=8727457 And there is a way that can reduce the additional fee of ebooks when you download them outside the U.S. You can choose to download to computer when you check out, the $2 additional download will be waived, and you can copy the books to your Kindle through USB cable. My vote still goes to the Kindle, as books on it are cheaper compared to Sony Reader. It is difficult to find some books, especially new releases, for Sony Reader as well. There is a good review here for you to read and decide: http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FRXW89I2WI0QMK%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref_%3Dcm%5Fcr%5Frdp%5Fperm&tag=querystr-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957 Hope this information helps.
